Nonlinear and Quantum Optics Controlled by Slow Light
Professor Yuri V. Rostovtsev
We have shown that it is possible to control phase-matching for coherent nonlinear scattering by using ultra-slow light. We predict several new effects: for example, forward Brillouin scattering and an enhancement of coherent scattering in the backward direction by using only forward propagating fields. The applications range from generation of squeezed and entangled light to remote sensing.
