This site was the first major web site I built. The very first site I constructed can still be found at http://astro.ocis.temple.edu/~jfwjr/river.html. The Baltops site was part of a senior project for the first ever Electronic Information Gathering class at Temple University. The site remains as it was first published during the Fall 1995 semester and although it was constructed during the early days of the web, I think it remains graphically pleasing and technically sound. Only minor coding changes have been made to accommodate a move from a Macintosh to a Unix server.

It is a direct result of that EIG class and its professor, Dr. Edward Trayes, that I choose a position in the Online world and was hired by Philadelphia Newspapers Inc. I would like to extend my thanks to Dr. Trayes for all his support during that semester and since.

This site is dedicated to Dr. Trayes and all the students in that first EIG class that offered so much help and encouragement as we fumbled with the web and HTML.
