Henrietta Ukwu is Vice President of Global Regulatory Affairs – All Therapeutic Areas at Wyeth Pharmaceuticals. The extensive portfolio which she oversees spans all therapeutic areas of Wyeth, including Cardiovascular disorders, Neuroscience, Gastro-Intestinal disorders, Anti-Infectives, Metabolic Disorders, Women’s Health, Biopharmaceuticals and Vaccines. Prior to joining Wyeth in 2004, Dr. Ukwu was the Vice President and Head of Worldwide Regulatory Affairs, Biologics/Vaccines, at Merck Research Laboratories where she started her pharmaceutical regulatory career in 1992. Dr. Ukwu was Chief of Infectious Diseases at the Alvin C. York Veterans Administration Hospital, Murfreesboro, TN immediately after completing an infectious diseases fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in 1991. There her research included HIV/AIDS pathogenesis and clinical research in potential HIV vaccines. Dr. Ukwu has served as consultant to the World Health Organization on the Global Program for AIDS. She completed her residency training in internal medicine at Baptist Hospital, University of Tennessee, after taking medical and surgical degrees in Nigeria. She has received many awards for her contributions to science, medicine, and industry.
