With degrees in Chemical Engineering, Physiological Psychology, Biomedical Engineering, Toxicology, and Pharmacology, Robert Raffa has worked in government, industry, and academia. He is co-founder and editor of the journal Analgesia. Prior to joining Temple University School of Pharmacy, Dr. Raffa was a Team Leader at Johnson & Johnson, responsible for directing the discovery and development of centrally-acting analgesics. He has published over 120 articles in refereed journals, plus as many abstracts, review articles, and symposia presentations. He is co-author of Principles in General Pharmacology and The Use of Antisense Strategies in the Study of Receptor Mechanisms, and the study guide, Quick-Look Pharmacology. He is presently working on two other books, Thermodynamics of the Drug-Receptor Interaction and Pharmacology: Understanding Modern Medicines. He is a past president of the Mid-Atlantic Pharmacology Society.
