Alexander R. Giaquinto holds a BSc in Pharmacy from St. John’s University, Jamaica, New York, and a PhD in Pharmaceutics from the University of Connecticut. In 1972 he became a Senior Pharmaceutical Scientist with Vicks Division, Research and Development. Now he is Senior Vice President for Worldwide Regulatory Affairs with Schering-Plough Research Institute. After joining Schering-Plough in 1974 as a Senior Scientist in the Pharmaceutical Development group, his position included Associate Director of Pharmaceutical Research and Development, Clinical Manufacturing and Packaging Development, Director, Senior Director and Vice President of Regulatory Affairs before appointment to his current position in 1993. Dr. Giaquinto is currently Chairman of the PhRMA Regulatory Affairs Coordinating Committee (RACC). He is a member of the American Pharmaceutical Association, the American Association of Pharmaceutical Sciences, the American Society of Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and The New York Academy of Sciences. Since its inception in 1990, Dr. Giaquinto has been a member of the ICH Steering Committee. He is one of the two US pharmaceutical industry (PhRMA) representatives and Chair of the Coordinating Committee for the Common Technical Document (CTD).
