Lionel Edwards is President of Pharma Pro Plus, Inc., a drug development consulting company and Director, Medical Affairs at Novartis Pharmaceuticals. He was Vice President of Clinical Research at Bio-Technology Pharmaceutical Corporation, a small biotech firm operating in US and international markets.  Prior to this, he worked at Noven, Inc., a skin patch technology firm with internationally licensed partners. He was Assistant Vice-President, International Clinical Research at Hoffman-La Roche, Senior Director of Schering-Plough International Research, and Director, US Domestic Gastrointestinal, Hormonal and OTC Research Departments. Dr. Edwards has been involved in all aspects of clinical trials in ten therapeutic areas. He chaired PMA's Special Population Committee for five years and served on the Institute of Medicine's Committee for Research in Women (sponsored by NIH) and the Efficacy Subcommittee Topic 5 (acceptability of Foreign Clinical Data) of the ICH. He has taught for PERI for over a decade and is on the teaching faculty of the National Association of Physicians and Society of Clinical Research Associates. He is an editor of Practice and Principles of Pharmaceutical Medicine.
