John Cullen, PhD, JD, is an attorney in private practice with thirty-five years experience in the pharmaceutical and related industries. Dr. Cullen currently provides legal and regulatory services to clients in the healthcare products industries. He has held a variety of senior executive positions in the pharmaceutical and clinical services industies. He was most recently Senior Vice President & General Counsel at InKine Pharmaceutical Company, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company. From 1994-96 he served as Chief Operating Officer for IBAH, Inc. (now Omnicare Clinical Services, Inc.), an international contract clinical research organization where he was responsible for worldwide operations. Prior to IBAH he held the position of Senior Vice President and Associate General Counsel for Business Operations at SmithKline Beecham Corporation (now, GlaxoSmithKline plc), where he was responsible for legal services to SmithKline Beecham’s North American pharmaceutical, consumer brands and veterinary divisions. Dr. Cullen has had substantial international, corporate, legal/regulatory and R&D experience in senior level negotiations with U.S. based and international corporate strategic partners, technical licensing and establishment of joint venture relationships. He holds a BS in Chemistry from Catholic University of America, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi. He completed a PhD in Biochemistry at Seton Hall University and joined SmithKline Beecham in 1971 as a senior research scientist after completing post-doctoral studies at Stanford University. While at SmithKline, he earned a law degree from Temple University and joined the company’s corporate legal department in 1978. He is a member of the Pennsylvania and American Bar Association.
