Special Notes for Distance Students:
|
Registration: Please register as soon as possible. This will help “guarantee” the course at your site. There is an overwhelming demand for our video-conference classes, but we only have four distance classrooms. By registering early, you let us know that there are enough students at your site to run the class. If there aren’t enough students, we will assign the course to another site. You do not need to pay for the course when you register! Temple will send you a bill. Books: You’re welcome to order any required texts from our Virtual Bookstore. You don’t have to use our Virtual Bookstore; however, they do offer to purchase your books back at the end of the semester, since they also sell used editions of the texts. Student Leader: To help our distance program run smoothly, we need volunteers to serve as “student leaders” each semester. Responsibilities include distributing photocopying for the class, taking attendance (if required) and forwarding it to the faculty member, notifying students at your site of any unexpected class cancellation, and overseeing the distribution of tests. In essence you serve as the “main contact person” for your class at your site. Faculty Homepages: many QA/RA faculty maintain homepages for their courses. These homepages are password protected, so please make sure you ask your teacher for that code. To access the homepage:
It is your responsibility to check that homepage on a regular basis for assignments, readings, links to other homepages, as well as a copy of the updated syllabus. Often faculty members will post class notes there, so please check the site before your class to see if there are any materials to download. |
