Special Notes for Distance Students
|
Registration: Please register as soon as possible. This will help “guarantee” the course at your site. There is an overwhelming demand for our video-conference classes, but we only have six distance classrooms. By registering early, you let us know that there are enough students at your site to run the class. If there aren’t enough students, we will assign the course to another site. You do not need to pay for the course when you register! Temple will send you a bill, which you will be able to view on-line. You must have TUmail to access your bill. Books: You’re welcome to order any required texts from our Virtual Bookstore. You don’t have to use our Virtual Bookstore; however, they do offer to purchase your books back at the end of the semester, since they also sell used editions of the texts. Student Leader: To help our distance program run smoothly, we need volunteers to serve as “student leaders” each semester. Responsibilities include distributing photocopying for the class, taking attendance (if required) and forwarding it to the faculty member, notifying students at your site of any unexpected class cancellation, and overseeing the distribution of tests. In essence you serve as the “main contact person” for your class at your site. Faculty Homepages: many QA/RA instructors maintain homepages through a platform called Blackboard. You must have a TUmail account to access Blackboard. It is your responsibility to check Blackboard on a regular basis for assignments, readings, Internet links, and the class syllabus. Instructors post PowerPoint notes there, so check Blackboard before your classes to see if there are any materials to download. |
