To provide an experiential learning opportunity in Pharmacology II, a mock court case was created. Students in this PY2 class volunteered to be the attorneys and expert witnesses. The "case" involved the controversial death of Michael Jackson. The expert witnesses had to "testify" about whether the drugs were given in proper doses and time-course. The attorneys had to argue the pros and cons of the use of the drugs. The rest of the students served as the "jury." Drs. Calligaro and Raffa served as the "judges." As part of the experience, students learned that they may be called upon as expert witnesses in court cases. The exercise led to discussion about this professional activity.
