Generous Alum Donates Unique Gift to School

Ms. Grace Miywawaki Tsutaoka ’52 in front of the Sakura, the condominium she recently donated to the School as a revocable retained life agreement. A long time supporter of the School, Grace established the Miyawaki Scholarship Incentives Fund in 2005, to provide financial assistance for academically-talented first year pharmacy students, with preference given to students who are legal residents of Hawaii.

Grace is a lifetime reside of Honolulu, HI (except for the four years she lived in Philadelphia while attending Temple). She has long been interested in promoting math and sciences to young girls and is a tutor in this pursuit. Since retirement from a career in hospital pharmacy, Grace has pursued the art of calligraphy and remains and avid world traveler. She recently returned from South Africa where she toured with one of her pharmacy classmates.

Grace’s gift of real estate is an example of how alumni can donate property and realize significant federal income tax savings while still retaining ownership during their lifetime. Thank you, Grace for your generous and thoughtful gift!
