Alumni Fellow/ Entrepreneurial Lecture
Presented By Tim Biro, ‘80


Timothy G. Biro is Managing Partner of Ohio Innovation Fund, I, LP, and a General Partner with Reservoir Venture Partners recently presented a lecture entitled, “From Pharmacist to Financier.”

Prior to his career in venture capital, Mr. Biro was with Merck & Co., holding management positions and most recently served as superintendent of Pharmaceutical Manufacturing. Prior to Merck, Mr. Biro worked in cancer research at Hershey Medical Center and in business planning in the Chemical Products Group of FMC Corporation.

Both Ohio Innovation Fund and Reservoir Venture Partners focus on investing in early-stage technology-based companies including biotechnology and medical devices, information technologies, and advanced materials.

Mr. Biro currently serves on the Board of Directors of DATATRAK (Nasdaq; DATA), a provider of Electronic Data Capture (EDC) software and services to the biopharmaceutical industry. He also serves on the Board of Directors for several private company boards including Imalux, a medical imaging company which has developed OCT technology for the early detection of bladder cancer and as an imaging guide for nerve sparing prostatectomies, FLX Micro, a producer of silicon carbide MEMS devices for harsh environments, and SpineMatrix, which has developed a non-invasive device for diagnosis and monitoring of lower back injury.

He currently is CEO for OncoImmune, a biopharmaceutical company developing therapeutics for Multiple Sclerosis and Tuberous Sclerosis. He serves on the Industrial Advisory Board for the Cleveland Clinic as well as on the Advisory Board for the Ohio Venture Association. He is also Chairman of the Board of Advisors for BioOhio, the advocacy group for the promotion of the Life Sciences industry in Ohio.

He holds a BS in Microbiology from Pennsylvania State University, a BS in Pharmacy from Temple University, and a MBA in Finance and Marketing from the Wharton School of Business.

The lecture was supported by a grant from the Temple University Alumni Association to “stimulate greater activity between prominent alumni and faculty, students and other alumni with the University community; to highlight distinguished alumni; and to increase visibility of and serve as a cultivation tool for sponsoring schools and colleges.
