Pharmacists Midyear Meeting

Temple School of Pharmacy had a large presence at the 39th ASHP Midyear Clinical Meeting in Orlando, Florida in early December. Twenty-one students and three faculty members attended the largest program of its kind for practicing pharmacists. Over 17,000 pharmacists and exhibitors attended the meeting.

The School hosted a dinner/cocktail reception for alumni and current students and over sixty people attended. Dr. Joel Shuster was the site host. The alums had an opportunity to mingle with faculty and catch up on events at the School and to mingle with colleagues.

Third-year students Amy Trexler and Teresa Anderson represented the School in the Clinical Skills Competition. Teresa, Laura Gilbert, Heather Rickards, and Gary Beppler
displayed a poster that illustrated students’ activities in the Student Society Showcase of ASHP. Faculty member Dr. Nicole Sifontis is the faculty advisor for the student chapter of ASHP and assisted in the preparation of the poster. She also organized the preliminary Clinical Skills Competition at the School.

Also, students Adam George, Dennis Constan, and Jessica Van Ingen displayed research posters that represented their work with faculty members Drs. Patrick McDonnell and Olga Klibanov.

The students had a great experience and developed a number of networking contacts that will help them with their organization and future in pharmacy practice.
