David Kwasny, '76, named 2010 Certificate of Honor Winner

David Kwasny, '76For outstanding management of pharmacy benefit programs

David R. Kwasny is the president of RESTAT, one of the nation’s largest pharmacy benefit managers. Prior to his promotion, he served as RESTAT’s vice president of sales, driving more than a decade of unprecedented growth for the company by delivering double-digit increases in revenue.

At RESTAT, Kwasny’s leadership skills are focused on simplifying the purchase and use of health care services through independent benefits management. Its newest initiative, Align, helps self-insured employers reduce the cost of their pharmacy benefit.

A licensed pharmacist for more than three decades with extensive experience in all aspects of community pharmacy, Kwasny spent his years before joining RESTAT in sales leadership and pharmacy management with a focus on prescription benefits. He formerly served as a regional sales director for ProVantage, Script Card and Health Care Pharmacy Providers. He also worked for the Kmart Corporation’s AmeriKind Pharmacy Network as a pharmacy district manager and key-account manager.

Kwasny credits Peter Doukas, now dean of the School of Pharmacy, with teaching him the true meaning of “alma mater”; literally,“nourishing mother” in Latin. Kwasny, who serves on the School of Pharmacy’s Board of Visitors, is an enthusiastic Owls fan and a strong supporter of the School of Pharmacy Annual Fund.

David resides in Wisconsin with his wife Autumn. They are the parents of four children.
