Description:
Academic Medical Center

Our client is a prestigious medical center in the Bronx. They are looking for pharmacists to cover all shifts in their highly automated pharmacy.

Staff Pharamcists will "float" for their first two years. During this time, you would be cross-trained in all the sub specialties (IV/Clean room, ambi, childrens hosp, critical care, medicine, card. thor. surgery, main pharmacy, etc) and cover those areas. After two years, you can continue to float or you can choose to specialize in one of the sub specialties.

The pharmacy is already highly automated, and they are rapidly installing even more automation with the intent of moving their pharmacists away from dispensing (though there will always be some) to verification of all meds, rounding, patient, family, staff education. Thus the pharmacist becomes more of the overall medical team in assuring quality care to all of their patients.

Day/evening rotation with some weekend coverage.

Pharmacists are part of 1199SEIU. All benefits are paid thru the union and include 4 weeks of vacation, 8 paid holidays, 4 paid personal days, 12 sick days, comprehensive healthcare, retirement, disability, continuing education, etc.

New Grads earn around $47/hr with anything over 37.5 garnering time-and-a-half. More experienced pharmacists are paid more. 10% differentials for evening shifts.

They will eagerly welcome new grads, as well as pharmacists with hospital or long-term care experience. Retail pharmacists (especially those who have graduated in the last five years or have demonstrated excellence with their current employer). They are looking for ambitious pharmacists with strong commitments to patient care and hospital pharmacy. Must be open to learning, have a clinical interest, desire to be part of a medical team. Flexibility and being a team player are must.
