A. Identifying
Funding Sources
One of the Office of the Vice President for Research's (OVP/Research) missions is to
assist faculty in identifying funding sources
for intellectual research. The most up up-to-date
information is available via the Web and
the OVPR encourages faculty to make use
of the many electronic tools available for
locating funding opportunities (our web
link to funding opportunities goes here)
In addition the OVPR provides the following
services to investigators, including information
on how to request these services.
– Printed & Electronic Information
OVPR staff routinely monitor publications
and computer data bases that identify, list
and describe funding sources and opportunities
for external support. Sources include funding
newsletters such as Federal Grants and Contracts
Weekly, Science and Government Report, Academic
Research Information Service (ARIS), Federal
Research Report, Consortium of Social Science
Associations Washington Update, Federal
Register, The NIH Guide to Grants and Contracts,
Commerce Business Daily, and State Funding
Opportunities.
– Personalized Computer Searches
OVPR provides free, personalized
computer searches of funding sources using
the Community of Science (COS). The printouts
include information on how to contact the
funding source, objectives and restrictions
of the funding program, and availability
of funds at the time of the search. Faculty
interested in a search should contact OVPR.
– Reference Books
OVPR also encourages investigators to use
Paley Library to secure general reference
books pertaining to sponsored project activities.
