Welcome to Temple University! We are confident you will find life at Temple University both rewarding and challenging. Your new student orientation is designed to assist in your transition and get your college career off to a great start! Discover the possibilities as you meet with fellow students and learn about the many resources available to you. While at orientation you will learn about campus life, meet with your Academic Advising Center and register for classes. This brochure will provide instructions on how to schedule your orientation and placement testing, answer questions you may have about orientation and placement tests, and help you prepare for both.

New Student Orientation provides a glimpse of campus life before you begin classes. At orientation you will:

  • Discover Temple
  • Meet fellow Temple students
  • Learn about academic and social programs at Temple
  • Learn more about your major or how to decide on a major
  • Meet with your academic advisor
  • Register for classes
  • Get your Temple ID

You will be working with the Temple Owl Team throughout your orientation experience. The Owl Team consists of current Temple students who are actively involved in campus activities and participate in community functions. These orientation leaders will help to answer the many questions you have about Temple University.  The Owl Team will help you select your classes and provide information you need to make your time at Temple successful and rewarding.

 

To schedule your ORIENTATION and PLACEMENT TESTING session:

  • Go to http://owlnet.temple.edu/
  • Enter your AccessNET username and password
  • Click the tab marked "Click here to schedule your orientation" at the top of the screen
  • Click the link for "Orientation Scheduling"
  • You will automatically be prompted with the first available date for your new student orientation and placement testing

Your college experience begins with New Student Orientation. This will be your opportunity to meet with fellow students, learn about your academic program, discover the many resources available at Temple University and HAVE FUN!!!

What to BRING?

  • PHOTO ID (required)
  • Orientation Booklet
  • Personal toiletries
  • Temple ID number
  • Financial aid information, if applicable
  • Alarm clock
  • Comfortable clothing and shoes
  • Money for personal expenses

We can provide a wide range of reasonable accommodations, some of which will include:

  • Accessible residence
  • Sign language interpreters
  • Assistive listening devices
  • Assistive technology
  • Material in alternate format (large prints, braille, audio, etc)
  • Placement test accommodations (extra time, use of PC, etc)

If you are a student with a disability and require reasonable accommodations during orientation and placement testing, then follow the 5 easy steps below and let us help you!

1.         Call the Disability, Resources and Services Office (DRS) immediately, telephone number 215 204 1280.

2.         Fax/mail your documentation of disability to DRS, along with your contact       information, fax number 215 204 6794.

3.         DRS will contact you to discuss your placement test requirements and any      other requirements you may have to successfully participate in University.


4.         DRS will issue a letter of accommodation to the Measurement and      Research Center (MARC) – MARC manages the placement testing at Temple University.


5.         You will call MARC at 215 204-8611 to arrange a time to do your         placement test with accommodations.
