B)    PROPOSED PROCEDURES AND TIMELINE FOR ONLINE COURSES AT TUJ

1)  Six months in advance of the start of each semester, OLL will alert TUJ that the on-line schedule is available for viewing at the OLL website. TUJ can then review the list and determine which courses they are interested in offering to TUJ students.

2)  Before the start of main campus priority registration, TUJ will inform of any courses they would like to offer. OLL needs to know at this point in order to reserve places for TUJ students.

3)  OLL will then contact the corresponding faculty members and ask them:

Are they willing to have a TUJ section and how many seats will be reserved for TUJ students

       Are there any prerequisites

What texts/reading materials will be used

OLL will give that information to TUJ and TUJ will determine how TUJ students will obtain textbooks.

4)  Following receipt of approval from the faculty member(s), OLL will send  a message to TUJ confirming which on-line courses they can offer.

5)  TUJ sends section update forms for these courses to the International Program requesting that TUJ sections be opened. TUJ should include the faculty members name, but may leave the social security number blank; International Program will obtain that and fill it in.

6)  All main campus on-line courses follow the main campus semester dates, including for final exams, and TUJ students should plan accordingly.

7)  TUJ needs to close registration for online classes not later than two weeks before the start of the main campus semester.

8)  At this time, TUJ will send OLL the following for each student registered in the class:

   Name

  Telephone Number

   E-mail Address

   Birth date

   Social Security/Temple ID number

9)  OLL will then send a welcome e-mail to the students with the following information:

instructions about accessing library resources on the web

   contact information for the professor

how to access Blackboard, if the course is on Blackboard

   how to order books online

10) OLL will send to the faculty members the list of the students for each course and the students' contact information.

11) If the course uses Blackboard, OLL will make sure that each student has an TEMPLE e-mail account so that they can access Blackboard. Because students need to be registered in ISIS in order to access Blackboard, but the TUJ registration disk doesn't come until after the start of the semester, OLL will manually ensure that students can access Blackboard

12)  International Program will send grade lists directly to the main campus instructor.
