PSYCH
170 - Industrial and Organizational Psychology This course provides an introduction to theory and application in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. We will consider historical precedents, various theoretical approaches, theory-based applications, cultural factors, and social responsibility and the increasing importance of technology while studying a wide variety or organizations. The format for this course may be different from most college-level courses you have taken. This is a virtual course, one, which meets electronically over the Internet, not physically in a classroom. Class will consist of ongoing asynchronous discussions of the readings and other resources introduced into the class environment by those involved. Much of the conduct of this course will be familiar; we will be reading a textbook and completing examinations. However, because this course is discussion based, the success or failure of the course depends upon the quality and quantity of your discussion. No previous computer experience is assumed. We will cover the basic skills needed to succeed in this course in the first two weeks. We will begin to cover Industrial and Organizational Psychology the third week of the semester. During that week I will be available (physically) in the Psychology Computer Lab during class time to coach students through their first postings
