How are courses offered?
^top
Some classes are taught via computer-based delivery,
using electronic mail, Listservs, and the World Wide
Web. Others are taught via videoconference, linking
students and instructors in two or more locations. Some
classes use a combination of technologies.
What are the advantages of Online Learning?
^top
Computer-based courses allow you to arrange your class
'attendance' around your own schedule (though
assignments are due on the instructor's schedule).
Videoconference courses allow you to attend a class
offered on one campus from a campus location closer to
you (including Ambler, Center City, Fort Washington,
Harrisburg, Health Sciences, and Main Campus) if the
course is videoconferenced to that campus. OLL courses
can also offer you the opportunity to experience new
ways of learning and discovery.
Are these courses different from other Temple courses?
^top
Only the delivery method is different -- courses
offered by the OLL program are approved University
courses, generally taught by full-time faculty
members. Many of the undergraduate courses offered
are University Core courses or fulfill the
University writing intensive requirement, as
designated by the approved prefixes (i.e., C, R, W,
X). More information on the Core Curriculum
and Student Learning at Temple can be found at the
following URL:

Who can take an online course?
^top
Anyone who meets
the regular requirements for the course being
offered. But, OLL courses require at least as much
time and effort as conventional classes -- if not
more -- and they require that students be
self-disciplined.
How do I register for an online course?
^top
Please visit the
Registration page for more details on how
to register.
Do I have to be a matriculated Temple student?
^top
No. You must,
however, meet the basic requirements for entrance
into a college level course and you must have taken
the pre-requisites for the chosen
online/videoconferencing course.
