For all other NRA’S who are inquiring how to file their 2007 tax return and choose not to use CINTAX, will need to file the 1040NRA EZ form which can be found on the Internal Revenue Services site www.irs.gov. You can also go the nearest IRS office in your area to get your 2007 tax return completed. The locations and telephone numbers of the nearest IRS offices are attached to this memo.
- If you are considered a Resident Alien (RA) for United States Tax Purposes, you file your 2007 tax return with no restrictions like a US citizen. (NOTE: THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE A RESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES nor a US Citizen. You are only considered a RA for US TAX PURPOSES and Temple University can not advise you on how to file or what 1040 form to use to file your taxes).
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING 1042-S FORM: NOTE that if you’re a NONRESIDENT ALIEN for United States TAX Purposes and have claimed a Tax Treaty exemption or Received any other payments (taxable non-qualified Scholarships for room and board, prizes, awards) in addition to receiving a W2 form for wages paid by Temple University during calendar year 2007, you will also Receive a FORM 1042-S. Therefore, if the above information applies to you, please do not file your 2007 tax return until you receive this additional tax document. Please note that the Form 1042-S will either be sent via the GLACIER system or mailed directly to you. Also note that while the FEDERAL GOVERNMENT requires that 1042-S be distributed by MARCH 15, 2008, we will make ever attempt to have these issued within the next couple of weeks.
If you should have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact the PAYROLL Management Department at 215-204-6011.
