Before you leave for Temple University and even if you’re already here, please:
- Please be aware that new undergraduate students should be in touch with the Office of Orientation at http://www.temple.edu/orientation/.
- New graduate and professional school students may also have additional departmental orientations to attend and should contact their admitting departments for information on this.
- Note that normal business hours for Temple University, as well as the Office of International Services, are 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday – Friday. Please know that Temple University does not offer airport pick up and that you should not call the University to request that you be picked up.
- Your first stop in the U.S. should be your pre-arranged housing. You can deposit your luggage and then visit the University to check in with the Office of International Services.
-
We strongly encourage you to take a taxi from the Philadelphia International Airport to Temple University.
-
When you exit the airport, you can find taxi cabs available in the Public Transportation area. Below you’ll find the names of a few taxi cab services. Regardless of the taxi company you select, the ride from the airport to the Temple campus should cost you approximately $30.00 (excluding tip).
DO NOT GET INTO A CAB UNLESS IT IS CLEARLY IDENTIFIED AS A CAB. THERE MAY BE PEOPLE CALLING OUT “HACK CAB”; DON’T TAKE THEM!
-
If you wish to take public transportation through SEPTA, you may do so. It will cost you less money, but it will be much less convenient if you are carrying a lot of luggage. Travel to the Temple University via SEPTA will cost approximately US$10.00. All regional lines stop at Temple University. However, remember that we are open from 8:30 to 5:00 Monday – Friday. If you will be arriving at a different time, you may go to septa.org to plan your trip from the Airport to a location closer to where you are staying
-
Please be sure that you have housing from the very first night of your arrival:
If you have been assigned University housing, the Office of University Housing and Residential Life is prepared to assist students who have been assigned university housing to move in early. Please contact the Housing Department (www.temple.edu/housing) to inquire about details. If you plan on arriving before you can move into your assigned housing, please see http://www.temple.edu/ois/prearrival/TEMPORARYhousing.doc for a list of temporary housing. You will have to make your own arrangements for temporary housing. It’s extremely important that you have housing so you can keep your luggage in a safe place from the first day. There is no place on campus to store luggage. The OIS cannot be responsible for students’ personal property.
