Environmental Health and Radiation Safety Training
Environmental Health and Radiation Safety (EHRS) provides numerous certificate safety training programs required by Federal, State and Local Regulations for University employees boht at the time of hire and on a routine basis during employment. EHRS has created a very effective training program for individuals at the University to complete as required. It is important for the Investigator and research staff employee to identify the requirements depending on the scope of the research and ensure they seek appropriate training.
This training is covered during New Employee Orientation OR Scheduled upon request by individual departments. To schedule a department specific training course or for more information on safety courses call 2-2520 or contact EHRS through e-mail
People working with blood or human tissue must receive BOTH initial and annual refresher training for Bloodborne Pathogens. OVPR certifies that trainees will receive instruction. Training related to Blood Borne Pathogens is provided by the OFfice of Environmental Health and Radiation Safety which is also responsible for maintaining appropriate training records.
All employees who intend to offer dangerous goods for shipment must first be trained and certified prior to performing any task. Additional training is required upon any change in the regulations. Refresher Training is required Bi-Annually.
