ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH
Lead Awareness: North Philly Style
Temple Health Connection alerts the dangers of lead poisoning while arming residents with tools to prevent it.
Lead Hazard Prevention Program
Student nurses, medical students, and/ trained volunteers visit families with low-level lead poisoning to help prevent it from becoming worse.
Lead Safe Babies
Outreach staff and/or student nurses make home visits to new families to encourage lead testing of children by six months of age
Open Airways in the Schools
Student nurses and "Bridging the Gaps" students use the American Lung Association's six-week curriculum to teach North Philadelphia children how to control their asthma.
Asthma Safe Kids
Outreach staff and/or student nurses visit families in their homes to help them learn how to prevent asthma attacks in their children.

Youth are developing a model for training other youth about environmental issues.
Anti-tobacco Awareness Campaign
Temple University Department of Nursing's Temple Health Connection has joined with Full Circle Theater to create performances addressing the dangers of smoking and second hand smoke.
MATERNAL/INFANT
Maternity/Infant Programs
Child Birth Classes are presented by faculty and student nurses at Temple Health Connection as well as the Philadelphia Parent Child Center
Home Visitation
Student nurses visit the homes of new families to discuss parenting skills and issues of health promotion.
Breastfeeding Education and Support Center
An ongoing Breast feeding Center that promotes breast feeding of children in the African American and Latino communities. Trained outreach workers visit new moms, call pregnant women and help conduct monthly support meetings.
Family Nurse Partnership Collaborative
Public health nurse home visitors work with first time pregnant and young families to achieve high level wellness.
Prenatal and Infant Health
Prenatal care is provided close to home that includes home visits before and after birth and provides incentives for keeping appointments.
YOUTH PROGRAMMING
Homework +
After-school program that includes nutritional snacks, support with home- work, physical activity, technology and cultural activities, and community service.
Norris Kids
Camp for 5-13 year olds provides constructive recreational activities while teaching conflict-resolution and building self esteem through play.
Teen Groups
Girls and boys groups meet weekly to learn life skills and build self- esteem.
Special Cancer Program
In conjunction with the Social Work Department of Temple University and the Temple Hospital Cancer Center, the Temple Health Connection provides an annual workshop for children living with someone with cancer.
ADULT PROGRAMMING
Senior Citizens Programs
Student nurses provide Health Promotion/Disease Prevention information and home visits at senior housing centers.
Women's Health
Sessions are held at various community settings addressing cardiovascular health, exercise, nutrition and topics selected by participants to enhance wellbeing.
