Sycamore Eve

Directed by Evan Viera
Hampshire College, USA

Sycamore Eve is an imaginative and captivating short film about a young girl's effort to protect her planet's most sacred resource.

Director's Statement
Sycamore Eve is the culmination of my narrative and experimental work at Hampshire College. It also shows the deep relationship I strive to create between the picture and sound. When I began storyboarding Sycamore Eve, I also started writing melodies on the piano. While I drafted the concept art, I composed environmental soundscapes to accompany them. This process I believe has created a symbiotic relationship between the picture and sound. Because both developed simultaneously, they are infused with eachother's ideas. My hope for Sycamore Eve, is to immerse the audience into a deep and complex world where the subtle nuances weave the viewer into this sureal and unfamiliar tale.
