Spike Lee, Emmy Award-winning film director and producer of He Got Game, Crooklyn, Do the Right Thing and Jungle Fever, discussed his distinguished career in the film industry with students during a lecture Monday, Dec. 8 in Mitten Hall.

During his address, Lee shared stories of his early days as a graduate student at New York University’s Tisch School of Arts and the mistakes he made on his way to the top. In addition, Lee encouraged the crowd of students to follow their dreams and establish goals early in their collegiate career.

Lee’s production company, 40 Acres & A Mule Filmworks, has produced more than 35 films since 1983. His latest production, Miracle at St. Anna, tells the story of four black American soldiers who get trapped in a Tuscan village during WWII.

The lecture was sponsored by Main Campus Programming Board.
