Publications

Christopher Loftus, chairperson and professor in the Department of Neurosurgery and Jack Jallo, associate professor of Neurosurgery, both at the School of Medicine, published Neurotrauma and Critical Care of the Brain for Thieme Medical Publishers, 2009.

Grants

Longin Latecki, of the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at the College of Science and Technology, received a grant from VIPMobile, Inc. for the project “Airborne Dynamic Detection and Discrimination of Dismounts (AD4).”  The award provides $33,000 for the period March 1, 2009 through Dec. 15, 2009.

Rongjia Tao, of the Department of Physics at the College of Science and Technology, received a grant from the DOD-Defense Threat Reduction Agency for the project “Radioactive Materials and the Surrounding Atmosphere.”  The award provides $150,000 for the first year of support with total funding estimated at $425,818 for the period March 1, 2009 through April 7, 2012. 

Presentations

Abbe Forman, of the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at the College of Science and Technology, was part of a panel called “Women in a Digital World: Conceptual Models of Inclusion” at the International Communications Association on May 25, in Chicago, Ill. The paper that she presented is called, " Beautiful to me: Identity, disability, and gender in virtual environments". The paper is currently under review for journal inclusion.

Jin Jun J. Luo, of the School of Medicine, co-presented “A Case Study Of Fatal Insomnia (FI) With Clinical, Laboratory, And Genetic Findings ” and “Characterization of Neurophysiologic Features of Idiopathic Hyperhomocysteinemia Induced Peripheral Neuropathy” at the 61st American Academy of Neurology Annual Meeting, held April 25- May 2 at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in Seattle. 

Kim Noble, assistant professor of nursing at the College of Health Professions, presented "Physiology, Pathophysiology, & Pharmacology: Those dreaded P's" at an event sponsored by the South Central Pennsylvania PeriAnesthesia Nurse's Association, held May 16, in York, Pa.

Kim Noble, assistant professor of nursing at the College of Health Professions, presented "PeriAnesthesia Nursing: A Systems Based Review of Pathophysiology" at an event sponsored by the American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nursing, held May 30, in Springfield, Ill.
