Recognizing recent achievements of Temple faculty and staff

 

Jane Stull, an adjunct professor of social work policy in the School of Social Administration and the executive director of Philadelphia FIGHT, a comprehensive AIDS organization, was recently honored by the Bread and Roses Community Fund for her work. During her tenure as executive director, FIGHT’s Project TEACH has trained more than 2,000 HIV-positive people, mostly low-income people of color, in peer education and how to build community.

Larry Alford, dean of university libraries at Temple University, has been named chair of the OCLC board of trustees. OCLC is the world's largest library cooperative, a research and service organization serving more than 60,000 libraries in 112 countries.

Albert J. Finestone, professor of medicine in the School of Medicine, was awarded the Barbara Bell MD Memorial award on Dec. 3, at the Union League by the Eastern Pennsylvania Geriatric Society (Affiliate of the American Geriatric Society) for Distinguished Service in the Field of Geriatric Medicine.


Catherine Coyle, of the College of Health Professions, was honored with the 2007 Scholar Award by the American Therapeutic Recreation Association.

Enrique Hernandez, the Abraham Roth Professor and chair of obstetrics, gynecology and reproductive sciences at the School of Medicine and Hospital, was named among the top 10 percent of reviewers for 2007 by the Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Jack VanDerhei, associate professor of risk, insurance, and healthcare management at the Fox School of Business, was named to the advisory board of the Rockefeller Foundation's Economic Security Index project.
