'In Conflict' spends the summer on the road

The cast of Temple Theaters’ sold-out, world-premiere production of In Conflict have been invited to perform for audiences in New York and Europe.

In August members of the original cast will perform during the Edinburgh International Festival in Scotland for a monthlong run.

“Edinburgh is one of the most popular independent theater festivals in the world,” said Scott Braun, director of communications for Temple Theaters. “It really is an honor for the students to be invited.”

After Edinburgh, In Conflict is slated for a two-week run in September as a part of the Philly Fringe Festival. The show will be staged in Randall Theater so it will be readily accessible to the Temple community.

Written and directed by Doug Wager, associate professor of theater, In Conflict is based on a book of first-person interviews with Iraq War veterans compiled by former Philadelphia Daily News journalist Yvonne Latty. This summer, the cast of In Conflict will perform for audiences in New York and Europe.

New York, where they will open the Culture Project's 2008–09 season. The Culture Project, an off-Broadway theater company that focuses on social issues, will stage In Conflict for an open-ended run that is scheduled to last until the presidential election in November.

Adapted for the stage and directed by nationally recognized, award-winning director Douglas C. Wager, In Conflict is a compelling portrait of Iraq War veterans speaking out on one of the most controversial conflicts in modern American history.

In Conflict opened Temple Theaters’ 2007–08 season in Randall Theater.
