Albert I. Wertheimer, professor of pharmacy administration at the School of Pharmacy, recently served as an editor for two pharmacy texts: the forthcoming Handbook of Pharmaceutical Public Policy, which will examine pressing issues facing the industry; and the third edition of Pharmacy and the U.S. Healthcare System, a text used since 1991 to educate pharmacy students who are interested in independent practice.
Chuck Allen, associate director of the Fox School of Business Honors Program, had an article included in the National Academic Advising Association’s just-released monograph, The New Advisor Guidebook: Mastering the Art of Advising through the First Year and Beyond. His piece, titled “Voices from the Field: Developing as a Professional Advisor,” detailed the growth process of a new academic advisor.
Edward Letzer, of the department of mathematics in the College of Science and Technology, received an award for $52,064 from the National Security Agency for the project titled “Noncommutative Algebra.”
Brian P. Daly, of the College of Health Professions, has been awarded $225,000 for the period March 14, 2007, through March 31, 2010, from the Pew Charitable Trusts for the project titled “Temple University Partnership Prevention Program.”
Doina Ganea, of the Department of Physiology in the School of Medicine, has been awarded $366,500 for the first year of support with total funding estimated at $1,466,000 for the period April 05, 2007, through March 31, 2011, from NIH/NIAID for the project titled “Role of PGE2 in CNS and peripheral autoimmune disorders 2 R01 AI052306-06.”
Clark Hu, associate professor of tourism and hospitality management at the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, was a keynote panelist for the general plenary session, “New Asia Tourism in Research and Industry Practices,” in the Fifth Asia Pacific International Council on Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Education at the 13th Asia Pacific Tourism Association Joint Conference. The event was held May 24 to 27 in Beijing.
Iis Tussyadiah, sport and recreation management lecturer for the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, spoke at the Tourism Society Conference in Aviemore, Scotland, in May. At the conference, she presented a paper titled “Mediating Tourism Experiences – Access to Places via Shared Videos.”
Nicole DeSilvis, an adjunct instructor and also a senior Small Business Development Center specialist at the Fox School of Business, held a seminar on March 20 on “Doing Business with Malaysia and Thailand” at Temple’s SBDC. The seminar featured guest speakers Anna Bacher, senior commercial officer at the U.S. Embassy in Bangkok, Thailand and Joseph B. Kaesshaefer, Jr., senior commercial service officer at the U.S. Embassy in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
William Dunkelberg, an economics professor at the Fox School of Business, presented at the fifth annual Realshare Philadelphia Commercial Real Estate Networking Event at the Doubletree Hotel in Philadelphia on April 17, where he discussed the real estate market and the overall business/economic climate in the city.
Temple University faculty members from the Occupational Therapy Department in the College of Health Professions participated in presentations and panels at the American Occupational Therapy Association’s 87th annual Conference and Expo in St. Louis, Mo., April 20-23. Rosalyn Lipsitt presented “Super Supervision: Strategies for Enhancing Supervision Skills in Fieldwork Educators.” Moya Kinnealey and Kristie P. Koenig presented “The Relationship Between Sensory Processing, Social Supports, and Quality of Life in Adults With Sensory Processing Disorders.” Koenig also presented in the workshop “Evidence-Based Practice Literature Review of OT for Children and Adolescents With Sensory Processing Disorder/Sensory Integrative Dysfunction.” |
