| Name: Marija Ugrinich
Doctor of podiatric medicine, School of Podiatric Medicine
Hometown: Alexandria, Va.
The Red Cross connection: “In my home country of Serbia, two of my aunts are doctors. One was the chair of the Red Cross, so from a young age, I was constantly exposed to their experiences. Always seeing physicians, donors and volunteers working together, helping people, made me want to become a doctor.”
After graduation: Ugrinich will be starting a residency in foot and ankle surgery at the University of Pennsylvania Presbyterian Hospital. “Ultimately, I’d like to be the type of doctor that my aunts are,” she said. She hopes to one day open her own practice.
Why I chose Temple: “I fell in love at first sight with Temple. The teachers and the research opportunities are above and beyond other podiatry schools, and the city surrounding it is a great mix of old-world European charm and contemporary American personality.”
Getting involved: Ugrinich has been involved in several organizations and programs while at Temple.
