Second Lieutenant Patrick J. Osman’s parents Jim and Patricia Osman pin lieutenant bars to his jacket during the annual Military Science / ROTC Annual Spring Commissioning Ceremony, held May 16.

Upon completion of college-level Army ROTC requirements, students earn their 2nd Lt. bar and are commissioned for military service.

Osman has been selected for the Infantry Branch in the United States Army Reserve with active duty status.

He will graduate with a degree in kinesiology in August.

Women usually represent about 20 percent of the commissioned ROTC graduates; however, among the eight students who were commissioned this year, half were women.
