Suzuki, a specialized method of musical instruction for young children ages 4 to 8 years, is offered in violin, piano and flute. In the Suzuki Method, also known as the “Mother Tongue Approach,” children learn music the same way they learn language. Following Dr. Suzuki’s premise that “any child can be educated and developed to a high level,” parents and teachers work together to create an encouraging and supportive environment in which children develop by listening, imitating and watching others. Parents attend all private lessons and group classes with their child and guide the student’s daily practice.
All students enrolled in Suzuki lessons are strongly encouraged to participate in FUNdamental Musicianship.
See Early childhood through Teens music classes.
Taught by Janet Miller
Prerequisite: Parent Orientation (see below for dates/times)
Pre-Twinkle Piano Classes provide an opportunity for very young children with their parents to develop basic skills for success in the Suzuki Piano Method.
