FISHTOWN:                                            THE REAL ESTATE BOOM

Frank Kolenkiewicz, born and raised in Fishtown, but a current Mayfair resident talks about the escalating real-estate prices. Maxie Butler, a lifelong resident of Fishtown for over 60 years, talks about why newer residents are attracted to Fishtown.

Butler talks about the 10-year tax abatement that the new residents receive. Pat Westfield, a lifelong Fishtown resident for over 60 years, talks about how Fishtown natives who would like to move back, are priced out of doing so.

Ryan Forman, a homeowner and landlor who currently has his house on Palmer Street on the market for $240,000, explains the reality of the skyrocketing real estate. John Idler, a third-generation owner of Idler Real Estate, has served the lower-income residents of Fishtown for over 115 years. He talks about the current real estate structure and how it has basically phased out his type of services.
