Class of 2011 Joins the Alumni Community

Students, faculty, alumni, and administrators celebrated the close of the academic year and welcomed the Class of 2011 into Temple University School of Medicine’s Alumni Association at World Café Live on May 4, 2011.


After four years of studying and countless exams, the students kicked back and enjoyed the music stylings of fellow classmates Kevin Murphy, Joe Maley, Nick Papacostas, Dustin and Devin O’Keefe, and musician friends including Bradley Kester. They also were treated to a performance by The Flashpoints, featuring Scott Shore, PhD, Associate Dean of Graduate Studies and Associate Professor of Biochemistry at the School of Medicine.


Dr. Anthony Giorgio, president of the Medical Alumni Association and graduate of the Class of ’73, formally inducted the students into the alumni association. A long-time supporter of the School of Medicine, Dr. Giorgio shared how tuition costs have changed considerably since he was a student in the early 1970s, when tuition was $800 a semester.


But, he pointed out, graduating students can help future medical students by making a contribution to the “Graduation Gift 4…3, 2, 1 Term Scholarship Fund.”
Every dollar donated funds term scholarships for first-, second- and third-year students each year. Students who donate to the fund with a gift of $20.11 or higher receive a Temple Doctor t-shirt as a thank-you.
