Most Popular Video Features Temple Doc

At 1,566 views, Dr. John Travaline's video on lung cancer screening was recently the most popular clinical video on The Doctors Channel, a web site that allows doctors to learn from each other via short, informative videos. Travaline is Associate Professor of Medicine, Pulmonary and Critical Care Medicine at Temple University School of Medicine and Hospital.

Travaline is one of 30 Temple physicians, dentists, podiatrists and other healthcare professionals with videos currently running on The Doctor’s Channel, which was created last year by School of Medicine alumnus David Best, MD, MBA.

"The free site condenses the overwhelming amount of information doctors have to navigate each day into one- to two-minute video segments," said Best. Doctors can view them and learn at their convenience.

In recent months, Best and his camera crew have spent several days at Temple University interviewing healthcare professionals, and they plan to visit regularly for new material.

"The world is ‘media snacking,’ getting their information in short bursts from cell phones, podcasts and RSS feeds," Best said. "We decided that the physician, who really does have precious few minutes a day, is the perfect audience for short, succinct educational streaming videos."

He initially contacted his Temple dorm-mate, Dr. Gerry Criner, Director of Temple's Lung Center, for an "in." Now, 60 Temple videos are available online at www.thedoctorschannel.com/search/results/?search=Temple.
