Core Facilities

Proteomics Core Facility

A Temple Proteomics Core Facility has been established to provide accessible and affordable proteomics capability for biological and biomedical research.  This research core facility has state-of-the-art instrumentation and is supported by staff with expertise in proteomics, tissue microanalysis and relevant bioinformatics.  Services provided include:

  • Isolation of individual cells from tissues
  • Protein and peptide separations by 2D-gel electrophoresis
  • Capillary electrophoresis
  • Multidimensional high performance liquid chromatography
  • Mass spectroscopy techniques for identification of proteins
  • "MALDI Imaging" based on creation of images from MALDI-TOF data
  • Special information obtained directly from frozen tissues

As a service to Temple investigators during the startup phase of this research core, staff are available to meet to discuss the feasibility of including proteomic techniques in research projects, helping design experiments, customizing proteomics methodologies, collecting preliminary data, and working to integrate data into grant proposals.  Since this service is dependent on staff availability. Temple researchers are encouraged to contact the Proteomics Core Facility office as early as possible in their project planning to ensure adequate time for consultation.

Web-based information on techniques and general aspects of experimental design are in development and should be available shortly to assist investigators in conducting experiments and submitting grant proposals.
