Sections of the proximal tibial metaphyses of 2 week-old normal rats were processed for ISH. (A) Sections incubated with the CTGF sense riboprobe were used as a control. Note the absence of any reaction product; image was captured using Nomarski DIC microscopy to allow visualization of some detail of the unstained tissue. Medium (B) and high power (C) photomicrographs of sections hybridized with the CTGF antisense riboprobe. Note that the reaction product indicative of CTGF mRNA expression is predominantly associated with osteoblasts (arrows) lining the bony trabeculae (b). m = marrow spaces with vascular channels.
