Education and training:

 

Dr. Klumpp graduated magna cum laude from Williams College in Massachusetts in 1978.  He subsequently graduated with honors from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in 1982. He served his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Dartmouth Medical Center between 1982 and 1985 during which he was named humanistic physician of the year during his senior year.

 

After serving two years in the U.S. Public Health Service, he served as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School in Boston between 1987 and 1990, during which he completed fellowships in both Hematology-Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation.

 

After completing his training in Boston, Dr. Klumpp joined the faculty at Temple University School of Medicine as Assistant Professor in 1990 specializing in Bone Marrow Transplantation. From November 2002 through June 2003 he held a faculty position at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.  He then returned to Temple University School of Medicine as Associate Professor of Medicine and Chief Information Officer of the Temple Bone Marrow Transplant Program.

clinical and research Interests:

 

Dr. Klumpp's major research and clinical interests include the diagnosis and treatment of leukemia, lymphoma, and related diseases, immunologic aspects of bone marrow transplantation, and transfusion support among patients undergoing bone marrow transplantation. In addition, Dr. Klumpp has a long-standing interest in computerized databases and biostatistics, and is a SAS Certified Professional.
