Shriners Hospitals Pediatric Research Center

The Shriners Hospitals Pediatric Research Center (Center for Neural Repair and Rehabilitation), a collaboration between Shriners Hospitals for Children and Temple University School of Medicine, is currently recruiting basic science faculty at various academic ranks.  The mission of the Center is to do research that will develop therapies for injuries to the nervous system in children.  Faculty will make up three research teams—a Spinal Cord Injury Team, a Neuromuscular Injury Team, and a Brain Injury Team, focusing on repair and plasticity in the injured pediatric spinal cord, on repair in the injured peripheral nervous system of children, and on cerebral palsy and traumatic brain injury, respectively. Each team will be led by a senior scientist who is an outstanding figure in his/her field. Successful candidates will receive an academic appointment at Temple University School of Medicine, a startup package with three years of support and eligibility to apply for Shriners Research Grants. Faculty rank will be commensurate with experience. The Center’s research facilities are outstanding, occupying 23,000 square feet of the new Temple University School of Medicine Medical Education and Research Building. These basic scientists will interact with the Center’s excellent clinical research team in pediatric neurorehabilitation located in the Shriners Hospital across the street. This is one of three Shriners hospitals nationwide specializing in spinal cord injury and related neuromuscular disorders. Successful candidates will have outstanding credentials in one of the three research areas identified above.
