research Interests:

Dr. Fisher’s research seeks to understand the early influences on the development of eating behaviors and health outcomes from birth to five years. Much of her work focuses on the role of the family, as a first and fundamental context in which eating habits develop. Over the past decade she has conducted federally-funded studies of child feeding, food portion size, and energy density in preschool-aged children. Her current research focuses on parenting around snacking as well as feeding interventions for low-income mothers to reduce children’s intake of solid fats and added sugars (i.e. “empty calories”).
