Dr. Emmons graduated from Carnege-Mellon University in Pittsburgh in 1985, and the University of Cincinnati Medical School in 1989. He completed his residency at the University of Michigan in 1992, and a fellowship in hematology at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 1994.
Additionally, Dr. Emmons was a staff fellow in the Hematology Branch of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institutes at the NIH and Lieutenant Commander of the United States Public Health Service.
Dr. Emmons was an Assistant Professor of Medicine and Cell Biology in the Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Massachusetts in Worcester, Massachusetts before joining the Temple BMT Program on October 1, 2003.
He is board certified in Hematology and Internal Medicine by the ABIM (American Board of Internal Medicine).

clinical and research Interests: |
Dr. Emmons' clinical specialty includes all forms of hematopoietic malignancy, immunologic disorders, and stem cell transplant.
His clinical and basic science research interests involve hematopoietic stem cell biology, immunoregulatory cells, graft-versus-host disease, and the application of stem cell transplantation to treat cancer and other disorders.
