Residency/Fellowship Programs

Application Information

The 5 year program is one of graded responsibility. Each house officer is allowed to progress as rapidly as he or she is capable with the support of attending staff. Using a clinic which serves a community of 250,000, senior residents are able to assess patients in outpatient setting, admitting those requiring hospitalization and beginning diagnostic and therapeutic regimens under the guidance of senior faculty member. The Deparmtent of Surgery has a dedication and commitment to both basic and clinical research. Though research is not a mandatory portion of the residency program, one or two residents spend at least a year in the laboratory. All residents are encouraged to pursue active clinical projects.

We offer 7 categorical positions and accept 10-14 preliminary residents into each new resident class. Positions begin at the PGY-1 level through PGY-5. The positions are offered through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP) and we exclusively accept applications through Electronic Residency Application Services ( ERAS ).

Foreign Medical Graduates must complete the requirements for Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) prior to applying to our Residency Program.
