department of surgeryResidency/Fellowship Programs
Welcome to the Temple University Hospital's Department of Surgery Residency web site. We hope you will find our web site informative and easy to use. If you should have any questions, please do not hesitate to e-mail our residency program at TuhSur@tuhs.temple.edu.
The Department of Surgery at Temple University Hospital has had a long tradition of educating and training outstanding clinical surgeons in a collegial supportive environment. This philosophy begins with our Chairman and is passed down from the surgical faculty to the surgical residents.
We have focused our residency program's mission on education over service. The residents have weekly protected conference time as well as a faculty supervised skills lab to further refine operative techniques.
The Department of Surgery has always had a strong foundation in the basics of general surgery. We continue to grow and advance in all areas including:
Temple University Hospital continues to be the busiest penetrating trauma center in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania with high volumes of operative trauma. The Cardiothoracic Section has been a pioneer in cardiac transplantation with added interest in minimally invasive cardiac bypass and lung volume reduction surgery. Our Vascular Surgery Section provides expertise in both endovascular and open procedures.
In closing, thank you for your interest in our Residency Program. For more information on the application process, please click here.
