Department of SurgerySection of General Surgery
This group provides state-of-the-art care for all routine and complex general surgery problems. Areas of special interest include GI oncology, inflammatory bowel disease, liver tumors, complex pancreatic or biliary disorders, reoperative GI surgery, functional GI problems and proctology.
Our general surgeons are specially trained in minimally invasive surgical techniques that significantly reduce the amount of time spent in the hospital and promote quicker recovery. This multidisciplinary group also has expertise in recent surgical interventions such as laparoscopic cholecystectomy for gallstones, laparoscopic gastric and bowel resection, laparoscopic agotomy for ulcer, laparoscopic fundoplication for reflux and diagnostic laparoscopy. Other surgical innovations include anal sphincter preservation for rectal cancer and ulcerative colitis and esophagectomy without thoracotomy for esophageal cancer. Colorectal cancer screening and outpatient hemmorrhoid treatments are also available.
