department of MedicineSection of pulmonary and critical care medicineResearch - PA-Scope
PA-SCOPE is a statewide research effort to determine why some groups, like African Americans and rural residents, are at greater risk for severe COPD than other groups. The project will also test the use of an innovative approach to reduce hospitalizations and improve quality of life for those suffering from COPD.
PA-SCOPE is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Health through its tobacco settlement program.
The Temple Lung Center at Temple University Hospital is leading the project in collaboration with four other institutions - Brigham and Women's Hospital, Lancaster General Hospital, Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, the University of Pittsburgh and the Western Pennsylvania Hospital.
