department of physical medicine and rehabilitationClinical Programs
Patients with physical disabilities secondary to stroke, multiple sclerosis, fractures, joint replacements, cardiac and pulmonary surgery or disorders, amputations, cancer, brain tumors, arthritis and other conditions are admitted to the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation's 22-bed rehabilitation unit for extensive, interdisciplinary rehabilitation.
Electrodiagnostic and NCV studies are provided promptly on site by three ABEM certified electromyographers (Drs. Brown, Weinik and Maitin). To schedule a test or appointment, please call 215-707-2997 or 215-707-3646.
Consultation services are provided to all disciplines by members of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation on a timely basis.
The Department's medical staff have office hours to evaluate and treat outpatients with any disorder that includes a physical disability. The medical staff will prescribe appropriate medications, therapy, artificial limbs, braces and durable medical equipment as needed. Pain syndromes are evaluated and treated with medications, manipulation techniques, injections, and physical exercise and modalities.
