department of medicineInternal Medicine Residency ProgramThe Interview Experience
We hope that your Temple experience is an excellent one that will allow you to see the myriad aspects of the Internal Medicine Residency Program. In order to have the best possible time here, please note the following:
Ms. Maria Cruz is in charge of the administrative aspects of the interview day. Please feel free to contact her as needed. If you are arriving from out of town and need a place to stay, Ms. Cruz can point you in the right direction.
If you would like to meet the residents in an informal setting, we encourage you to meet us for dinner the night before in Center City. Please let Ms. Cruz know if you will be able to attend so we can get an accurate head count. We will meet for dinner at 6:30 p.m. at the Marathon Grill located at 13th and Chestnut.
The interview day begins at 7:30 a.m. in the Student Faculty Center on the corner of Broad and Ontario Streets. You should be done by 3:30 p.m. During the interview day, you will get a chance to learn about our program from the key faculty, chief residents and residents. You will have a tour of the facility and a chance to see where and how our teaching is done. You will also have two interviews. In an innovative approach, Temple offers an "A" interview with a person who has seen your portfolio and is familiar with your background and a "B" interview which is more casual. Please feel free to pose questions about the program during either the interview or on the tour. If you should happen to have questions after you get home, please send them along to Ms. Cruz and they will be forwarded to the appropriate person. We are sure you will want to dress nicely for the occasion, but there is no obligation to wear black! A continental breakfast and buffet lunch will be provided for you. These are good times to schmooze with our current residents and learn even more about us.
We want you to be sure that Temple is the best choice for you so we invite anyone interested to return for a second visit. We would be very happy to see you again and answer any remaining questions you might have. To set this up, please contact Ms. Cruz, and she will arrange to have a team with whom you can link and have the opportunity to talk with key people in the program.
