Internal Medicine Residency Program

For Applicants

Internal Medicine resident Thank you for your interest in the Internal Medicine training programs at Temple University Hospital. We offer a three-year categorical medicine program to all interested applicants. It is our hope that the information here is useful in helping you to choose the residency program that best fits your needs.

The philosophy of our training program is to provide a core curriculum designed to promote the acquisition of basic clinical competencies in internal medicine. We also pride ourselves on the ability to tailor the educational experiences to meet each individual trainee’s distinctive personal and career objectives. The program is designed to foster excellence in clinical skills and teaching, to promote basic science and clinical research, and to develop future academic opportunities.

We are committed to working with each of our trainees to optimize the training experience to best fit the individual's needs.  The combination of a diverse patient population, an outstanding and dedicated faculty, and a strong research institution provides residents in our program with the necessary ingredients for a rich and diverse educational experience.

We invite you to submit an application to Temple University through ERAS.  Required letters of recommendation include a dean's letter, a chairman's letter, and three letters of recommendation from faculty members who have worked with you.

Interviews are by invitation only.  Interview dates for the 2008-9 interview season will be announced in the summer.

You will receive notification via the e-mail address supplied through ERAS.

We are now accepting applications for Preliminary year positions.  In the past, these were reserved for only those entering into Temple's Neurology program.  However, the process is now an open one and anyone may apply for the available positions through ERAS.

Please note that we no longer accept applications for clinical observerships.
