Section of oncology - temple cancer center

The Temple University Hospital Cancer Center offers a highly skilled, compassionate staff that provides the latest and most advanced diagnosis procedures and treatment options for all types of cancer.  A multidisciplinary team of experienced, caring physicians and staff evaluates each patient and develops an individualized treatment plan.  The patient's primary care physician, along with the patient and family, are involved in helping to determine the best course of therapy.

 

Located in the new Ambulatory Care Center at Temple University Hospital, the Cancer Center offers convenient, centralized services including registration and check-in, financial counseling, on-site laboratory and pharmacy services, dietary counseling and pain management services.  Trained social workers and other professionals provide support services.

 

Research interests of the Cancer Center focus on:

  • Clinical investigation of new treatment modalities of solid tumors and hematologic malignancies
  • Antineoplastic drug development
  • Use of biologic response modifiers in the treatment of malignancy
  • Broad-based clinical and basic investigations in bone marrow transplantation

Innovative programs have been developed in peripheral stem cell transplantation and the use of high-dose chemotherapy with marrow/stem cell transplantation in the therapy of breast cancer and hematologic malignancies.
