A Message from Thomas Fekete, MD Chief, Section of Infectious Diseases Professor of Medicine Executive Vice Chair for Clinical Affairs, Department of Medicine
The Section of Infectious Diseases at Temple University School of Medicine is dedicated to the highest ideals of teaching, clinical care and advancement of the science of Infectious Diseases. The seven faculty members and five fellows see patients at Temple University Hospital, the American Oncologic Hospital, Jeanes Hospital's stem cell transplant unit and in various clinics on the Temple campus. The Section has broad expertise in all aspects of Infectious Diseases including HIV care and infectious complications of transplantation.
As Chief, I welcome you to explore our Section and see if our teaching or clinical missions might be of service to you or your family. We offer a top-notch clinical training fellowship in Infectious Diseases that is fully accredited for ABIM certification in our specialty. We also have a significant teaching role for residents interested in learning more about infections. Although most of our clinical slots are for Temple residents, visiting residents may be accommodated on request. We do not currently have openings for observerships but these may, on rare occasion, be available to residents at our affiliate institutions or visiting residents from other programs looking to learn from our patient base and faculty. We offer a structured and well-received teaching program for medical students.
Our inpatient clinical program is limited to the institutions where we currently have privileges. However, we are available to see outpatients in a varieties of Infectious Diseases areas on request. The number to call for appointments is 215-707-3807. This is the same number to call for our Travel Clinic that meets twice a week year round.
We look forward to hearing from you and serving your needs.
Thomas Fekete, MD
